Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Follow up client
   • Check function and state of accommodative orthoses during follow-up
   • Assess client condition, adjust medical grade footwear treatment where required, and update client file
2. Determine initial job requirements
   • Select accommodative orthoses materials that reflect requirements of client condition and requirements for durability and performance
3. Consult other health professionals to clarify or provide additional information
4. Produce technical drawing of accommodative orthoses
   • Produce initial three-dimensional (3D) design of cast
5. Specify materials to be used in accommodative orthoses construction
6. Specify anatomical matching, key references and specific performance requirements of accommodative orthoses
7. Specify dimensions and tolerances using appropriate drawing symbols
8. Produce and post basic form
   • Review cast specifications for accuracy, material selection, 3D design and consistency with technical drawing and prescription if applicable
9. Make changes and refinements as necessary, including balancing aesthetic needs with footwear and condition requirements
10. Produce basic form to fitting accuracy of ± 1mm
11. Correct and post basic form to accommodative orthoses standard
12. Conduct trial fitting of accommodative orthoses
    • Produce accommodative orthoses for trial
13. Modify existing shoes for trial accommodative orthoses
14. Perform diagnostic fitting of accommodative orthoses
15. Interpret results of fitting for possible changes to accommodative orthoses design and materials
16. Manufacture accommodative orthoses
    • Construct accommodative orthoses to specifications
17. Make allowance for variation between trial and final accommodative orthoses
18. Check dimensions and shape of accommodative orthoses against specifications
19. Modify existing shoes for accommodative orthoses if necessary
20. Finish off accommodative orthoses to established quality standards
21. Deliver and fit accommodative orthoses
    • Check fitting and make adjustments as required to meet client needs
22. Clarify function, management and maintenance procedures for accommodative orthoses with client
23. Explain arrangements for follow-up to client
24. Complete record keeping procedures and administrative tasks
